April, 2012: Update

Greetings, Haul Zing Blog subscribers. We are gearing up for the 2012 seasonal rush of clients who are moving into and within the D.C. Metro area. We have taken on some new crew members in the last couple of months and with their training under our tenured crew leaders, they have quickly gained the experience & skill to get the job done to the Haul Zing standard. With summer fast approaching, we are ready for the large migration of more than 20,000 government interns into D.C., along with our expected increase in business from both new clients and repeat customers.

With the impending upswing of business, we will also be hiring more crew members to put through training and out on the road with our seasoned crews. Keep an eye out for the Haul Zing trucks; chances are good that we'll be passing through your neighborhood. Until next time...

Marc

Rockville MD Apartment Movers lost blog posts and the Year of the Zing

Oh, wow, 11 months and no blog posts. I guess they were somehow deleted, yeah, sure.

Lets see, what has happened in 11 months..... Compared to last year work comes at a very steady pace. All of our new systems makes hiring employees, scheduling employees, setting up & tracking jobs, tracking vehicles, controlling fuel costs and tracking labor costs, well, easy. When I started this company about 3 years ago my goal was to figure out how to take on every job within our niche and be the UPS of the local delivery/move industry in every major/minor US city. When was the last time you went to UPS or FedEx and they said, "sorry, we are booked up for deliveries today" They dont, they are designed to always say yes but also to do the job right. That is our goal, too. I do think I have figured out how to make this happen and will spend the next few months rechecking the systems for an "all systems go" green light. 2012 should be the year of the Zing. Check back next year and check the results. Thats probably when I will also remember we have a blog.....

Eddie

Settlements and Move Days

In my previous life (well, one of them) I was a project manager for a prestigious home builder in P.G. County MD. As a project manager I took start packages and a dirt lots and created neighborhoods. Through the years of doing this one thing always remained constant, Settlements rarely happen on the day and time they are supposed to. While most people who are moving from house to house have weeks between move in/move out it is a different story with condo owners. Many times these individuals are trying to move out of their old location, into the new location and settle all on the same day.
Piece of advice, dont. While you may be dying to move into your new place ASAP it is best to work it out so that you have a few days (a week is better) separation between being out of the old and into the new. On one occasion we were not warned that it was settlement day and someone didnt fax the right piece of paper which delayed the settlement. This meant we had a truck full of items with no home. Luckily it was the last job of the day and we were able to get the items moved the next day, albeit with an unhappy manager (because we did have other moves for that next morning) and a customer with a very large moving bill. While we have not had this issue in a very long time, we have been getting more "going to settlement" moves lately. I would just like to give a heads up to new home buyers to be prepared for delays in closing.

Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Wet Shoes and Local Movers for Rockville MD

Oct. 14th. Rainy, windy, cold and traffic jams. What a beautiful day :D

Our crew members are the best and always stay in contact, even when they are stuck in traffic on the way to work. So yesterday when one of the guys, Henry, was going to be a little late I got out of my already warm office chair, grabbed a rain jacket and headed out to start a storage move right here in Rockville MD. One problem. I had on my summer time shoes. You know, the mesh ones that are designed to let your feet breathe in the heat. In the rain though they are expensive sponges. Oh joy. We got the job started, Henry arrived and I borrowed his car to get back to the office to a very full plate. Office work, step out for a meeting, pick up a mid-day furniture delivery that needs a look from an expert mover, back to the office, back out into the field to switch trucks on a small job that wasnt, Back to the office. All the while in my still wet shoes. No fun.

So the lesson is to keep a second pair of shoes and socks in our office/training center. Because with an indoor/outdoor job like moving, wet shoes are no fun.

The point is, no matter what the conditions are here at Haul Zing, one of the DC areas Best Movers, we keep moving until the day is done.

Happy Monday?

Ahhh, Monday. The day most people loathe. But wait! Its a Federal holiday! That means we can assist our Arlington Movers, Rockville Movers and DC Movers without fighting rush hour traffic! Sweet! This saves our crews aggravation and our clients $ and makes for a nice, relaxing, day of Moving in our Nations Capitol. It makes me wish I was out moving with the guys but instead I am here in the office. Luckily I have a nice big window and can open the bay door so that I can enjoy the day, too.

Enjoy,
Eddie

Washington DC Movers and the Haul Zing way

Here in the Washington DC Mover community there are alot of choices. Some of these DC Moving Companies are great but some could just care less about you or your items. Many of the Movers websites I visit are sites specifically designed to book a job then "skim" 10-20% off the top by giving the job to the lowest bidder. Here at Haul Zing we find this appalling. Yes, we are capitalists but it seems that every other new moving company in the DC area is a middle man business. Many do not have a single mover much less a moving truck. The prices of many moving services in the DC area are over inflated due to the "middleman effect". These are business people (loose term) who spend alot of $ getting to the top of Google searches, appearing professional, only to give out the work, services and goods to the cheapest bidder.

Here at Haul Zing we always send you our own top rated and trained Movers who serve Rockville, Bethesda, Washington DC, Arlington and the surrounding areas. Dont get fooled by another middleman moving company. Use Haul Zing and you will use us again and tell your friends!

Mover Training Center for Rockville MD Movers

Here at Haul Zing we always strive to provide nice guys who are great movers to our clients. After a few meetings and some training we can tell who is nice but everyone needs mover training. So what did we do? We opened a Haul Zing Mover Training Center located right behing the Target in Rockville MD. The individuals who make it through the interviews and basic training will get 1-3 weeks of traing based on how much or how little experience they already have. This is one more way Haul Zing is striving to be the best Apartment and Room Mover in Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Arlington, Falls Church, Tysons, McLean, Washington DC and beyond.
